CONDOMERIE'S MEASURING SYSTEM FOR CONDOMS

A properly fitting condom is safer, more comfortable and offers better protection against STD and pregnancy. Manufacturers choose an average measurement for determining the size of their condoms, but this "average" varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some manufacturers make measurements in millimetres, others in inches. The result for the consumer is confusion.
The Condomerie has had its range of condoms independently measured, so the consumer can use the actual sizes, rather than manufacturers definitions, to find the condom that fits them best. A handy conversion table is available for those who are not happy with the metric system. Manufacturers do not start from the same measurements when sizing their condoms, so what can be called 'regular' by one company, is 'large' for another.

The Condomerie has placed her entire assortment of tested condoms into a number of categories, the so-called CAS categories (CAS = Condomerie Amsterdam Standard):

CONDOM CIRCUMFERENCE IMPORTANT ELEMENT

A condom is considered a good fit if the circumference of the condom is in tune with that of the penis. A condom which is too large can easily slip off, while one which is too tight is uncomfortable and risk of tearing is greater. The length of the condom is less important, but should be as close to the length of the penis as possible. The thickness of the material can play a role in the condom's comfort. Circumference is the most important element when looking for the best fitting condom. Most condoms fall in category CAS 4. The circumference of condoms in this category can be used as an average size. To facilitate choosing from the many different brands, the Condomerie has put together a special sampler package.

CONDOM INDEX

The Condomerie Amsterdam Standard (CAS) Index was specially developed by the Condomerie to help the user compare different types of condoms and find the best one for them. Part A covers the specific types of condoms and notes such things as colour, spermicide, lubricant etc. Part B covers the precise measurements of the condoms, as developed by the Condomerie.
"We hope the CAS-index will help people find the right condom for them," says the Condomerie's Marijke Vilijn. "We must not forget that, apart from abstinence, they really are the only sure way of preventing the spread of STD and AIDS." For more information see mailorder catalogue.
